Apartment inventory list: what it should really contain
A good inventory list is not an endless spreadsheet. It must make clear which object is meant, what condition it is in and what the parties agreed.
One item, one clear description
Combining different objects in one line makes later changes difficult. Use one item for each piece of furniture, appliance or built-in element. Identical chairs may be grouped with the correct quantity.
- Description and room
- Quantity and, where useful, make or model
- Condition and known defects
- Meaningful photos
- Item price or note that it is transferred free of charge
Attach photos to the relevant item
Unassigned photos provide little evidence. In Ordivant each image belongs to an item and becomes part of the shared version, so the object and described condition remain connected.
Complete instead of editing forever
The list remains editable until both parties confirm the same version. The completion document is then locked. Any later change requires a new version and renewed approval.
